Masters Students
Currently we do have some potential Masters projects regarding various electrolysis reactions with most, but not all involving CO2 electrolysis. Typically we only work with Masters students who are enrolled at DTU. If you are a DTU student who is interested in this, please contact me. There have been multiple cases where Masters students from other universities have worked at our group, however they provided their own funding and simply were here to visit. Their degree ended up being from their home institution.
PhD Students and Post-Docs
New positions for both PhD and Postdocs are continually opening at DTU physics. Per regulations, all of these open positions can be viewed and applied for at the following website: https://www.dtu.dk/english/about/job-and-career/vacant-positions. Simply apply, and the person reviewing all applicants (normally the professor) will choose the best candidate.
However there may arise the situation where you want to do a PhD or post-doc, but there are no open positions. In these situations you could potentially find your own source of funding by some type of grant. In this case you would still need to be approved by the university, but this is typically done in coordination with applying for grant funding. I am familiar with a few grant schemes and have listed them below. If you are interested in trying to work with me and are thinking about applying to any of these grant schemes or other ones you are familiar with contact me directly.
Important Note: My comments on the grants may not be completely accurate. Sometimes the organizations change their policy or potentially I could have misinterpreted their application. See the funding agencies website for the most accurate, up to date information.
PhD Grant Schemes
Danish
Advanced Research Academy:
---This is a new PhD scheme started in 2025, where you write a
proposal for a PhD idea and if you are successful, you get a PhD
position to implement the idea. When you write the proposal,
you need to have a named supervisor as part of this validating
that we actually have the equipment/infrastructure for you to do
your idea. I am not sure of this, but a small amount of it
may need to be co-funded by the department in which you are doing
the PhD. You typically need to apply around August and will
find out around December/January if you are succesful. This
is the first year of this, but my guess is the success rate will
be in the 15-20% range. If you are interested in this,
contact me.

Post-Doc Grant Schemes
Carlsberg
Foundation:
---This organization provides a large amount of funding for
different research applications. Currently they do not have
any active post-doc funding programs, but they have in the past.
This is a very dynamic funding agency so new oppurtunities could
occur on any given month.

Villum Foundation:
--- This organization provides a large amount of funding for
different research applications. Currently they do not
have any active post-doc funding programs, but they have in
the past. This is a very dynamic funding agency so new
oppurtunities could occur on any given month.

Novo Nordisk Foundation:
---This organization provides a large amount of funding for
different research applications. Some of these calls can
involved a postdoc, but rarely is there a grant call
specifically for individual postdocs. However new
calls are always coming up, so potentially there is an
oppurtunity here. (Though Novo Nordisk makes diabetes
drugs and Ozempic, the proposals calls often have nothing at
all to do with Novo Nordisk related fields)

EU
Grants -
--- The European Union has a wide variety of grant schemes. I am
not familiar with all of the schemes, however if you are
interested below is their website
http://ec.europa.eu/research/index.cfm.
One of the most popular programs is the Marie Curie program for
people who are looking for a Post-doc position not in their home
country. The deadline is typically in September, and you find out
if you get it in about February/March and can start the position
typically as soon as June. The success rate is on the order
of 10-15%, so this is a quite competitive scheme.
Other Grant Schemes
Innovation Fund Denmark:
--- This is a great organization funded by the Danish government
to help bridege the gap between applied research in the lab and
actual implementation of this into companies. They almost
always fund academic-industry collaborations. Sometimes as
part of these grants, there are PhD or postdoc oppurtunities.
It should be noted they also fund those wanting to develop a
start-up company.

Visiting Professors
If you have your own funding we would be happy to discuss potentially having you visit our lab for an extended period of time. If you do not have funding, there are potential places to apply for. Below are a few I am aware of
Otto Mønsted Fund -
--- This has a deadline in June typically and grants 3
months stays at Danish universities and will cover salaries
up to 75,000 DKK/month, but does not cover other expenses.
--- Website: https://omfonden.dk/application/
Fullbright Scholarships -
--- These are only for Americans, but we have had success in
the past with this grant scheme. This has a deadline in
September and has funding up to 200,000 DKK.
