Developing engineered CO2 electroysis devices
If we want to commerialize CO2 electrolysis, we need to build engineered devices that do not only have catalysis optimized, but also mass transfer, ohmic loss and isolation of products. Fortunately the water electrolysis, chlorine electrolysis, and fuel cell fields have come along way in developing optimally engineered electrochemical devices. However there are some unique characteristics related to CO2 electrolysis that makes there engineering a bit different and more challenging than these other approaches.
